The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records to support a U.S.-based client. This role ensures that all transactions are recorded in line with U.S. accounting standards and company policies, supporting smooth day-to-day financial operations. Working remotely as part of an offshore team, the Bookkeeper will collaborate closely with the client’s accounting staff to deliver timely, reliable, and compliant financial information.

Duties & Responsibilties

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, sales, and payments.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and reconcile bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoicing, payment application, and vendor payments.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow reports as needed.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes by preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records in accounting software.
  • Liaise with the client’s U.S. accounting team to ensure accurate reporting and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to bookkeeping activities.
  • Assist with audits by providing required documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all financial data and client information.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, Sage, or similar).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in English, written and verbal communication skills suitable for professional interaction with U.S.-based clients.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Experience supporting U.S.-based clients or working in a multinational environment is an advantage.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Registered CA(SA) or equivalent qualification, with 2–4 years post-articles experience.
  • Knowledge / Experience in IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
  • General knowledge of legislation and regulations affecting financial reporting.
