Payroll Administrator

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, and established deadlines. This role serves as a key liaison between Payroll, Human Resources, and Accounting to ensure accurate recordkeeping, regulatory compliance, and effective communication related to payroll and employee compensation.

Duties & Responsibilties

  • Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for all employees, including hourly and salaried staff
  • Calculate earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Verify accuracy of timesheets, leave requests, and wage adjustments
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including direct deposit, tax withholding, and benefit deductions
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate setup of new hires, terminations, and employee changes
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Prepare payroll reports for Finance, HR, and executive leadership as needed
  • Assist with payroll audits, year-end reporting, and preparation of W-2s and other tax documents
  • Ensure confidentiality of employee data and payroll information
  • Stay up to date on changes to payroll-related laws and ensure ongoing compliance

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a payroll administrator or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws
  • Proficiency in payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar)
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • Familiarity with benefits and leave administration

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred
  • Registered CA(SA) + 2 – 4 years post completion of articles.
  • Knowledge / Experience in IFRS
  • Knowledge / Experience in US GAAP
  • A sound knowledge of and exposure to all IASB (International Accounting Standards Board) accounting standards.
  • A wide general knowledge of legislation and regulations that could affect financial reporting

Core Business Hours: Minimum 4 hours overlap with U.S. client business hours.
